* Kitchen knife
* Paper towels
* Vegetable peeler

How to Make Celery and Cream Cheese Appetizers

Step 1

Gently pull the bunch of celery apart into individual celery stalks or pieces.

Step 2

Rinse the celery off with warm water. Rub and wipe the celery with your fingers.

Take care to remove any soil off of the entire surface of the celery.

Remember that you are also trying to wash off or remove any pesticides and fertilizers off of the celery. Which is harmful to humans and toxic to pets.

Rinse celery thoroughly with cold water and lay flat on a paper towel to dry.

Step 3

If desired, the celery can be "peeled" in an attempt to cutt the loose 'stringy' pieces off of the celery.

These stringy pieces of celery can be eaten and most people don't mind them. They don't need to be removed because it takes away too much of the celery. If these pieces are bothersome, try using a vegetable peeler to remove a thin layer off of either side of the celery. This should remove most of the Celery Strings.

Step 4

Cut the bottoms and the tops, off of the celery pieces. These can be fed to pets, used in stocks or composted.

Step 5

Cut the celery into even smaller pieces. Make the celery pieces about 3 inches long. This is a good size for a finger food. You don't want to cut them too short or leave them too long.

Step 6

If necessary, rinse the celery and lay it out on a paper towel to dry an additional time to ensure that it is clean.

Step 7

Spread cream cheese onto the top side of the celery pieces. The top side has a natural indent that grooves slightly inward.

This natural groove can act as a pocket that holds the cream cheese or any other filling that you desire. This process can be called, stuffing the celery.

Step 8

Take a taste test. You might decide that they are ready to be served now or stored for later.

If you feel that they need a little bit more flavor or color. You can sprinkle a slight dusting of paprika or even better try seasoned meat tenderizer, which has an excellent taste to it.

Step 9

Arrange celery on a fancy platter in any pattern that you would like.

It's hard for these fancy finger foods, not to look tasty and interesting. Either way they will get eaten quickly.

These are the treats that will keep people coming back to your events, year after year.

Step 10

Celery and Cream Cheese appetizers can be made one or two days in advance.

After the finished celery pieces are laid out onto a platter, wrap the serving dish tightly with Saran wrap. Refrigerate until just before the party begins.

Before any guests arrive, simply remove the Saran wrap and place the serving dish on the table.

These appetizers are best served cold, right out of the fridge. However, leaving these out for an hour, for guest to grab them as they please will be fine. Most people will eat room temperature cream cheese.

You can also store these in a Tupperware dish with a tight fitting lid for at least 3 days. You will be lucky if you ever have any of these left over the day after a party.

Celery and Cream Cheese appetizers are a healthy and yummy snack for any day!

In my family it is a tradition to have these at every Holiday dinner or family get-together.

Try Celery appetizers with peanut butter instead of cream cheese for an even sweeter treat!
